Biography :

Dr Olga Tiurikova is a research fellow in the laboratory of Synaptic Imaging in the UCL Queen Square Institute of Neurology since 2020. Olga has a PhD from University College London in neuroscience. Her thesis explored the role of astrocytic glutamate transporters and inward rectifying potassium channels (Kir4.1) in shaping synaptic transmission and potential gene therapy avenues towards the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases. Before coming to UCL Olga obtained her MSc in biophysics from Lobachevsky State University of Nizhny Novgorod (Russia). Olga performed her MSc qualification project at RIKEN Institute (Japan), where she worked as an intern from 2013 to 2014
